Blue Ridge Scenic Railway NYE Train

What could be better than taking a festive train ride through the Blue Ridge mountains to bring in the New Year?
Blue Ridge Scenic Railway’s New Year’s Eve train is an adult-only ride with drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and party favors. The ride begins at 10 pm in Downtown Blue Ridge and ends at 12:30 pm on New Year’s Day. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy a classic Blue Ridge activity with a holiday twist.
Grumpy Old Men Brewing NYE Party

Grumpy Old Men Brewing is a local brewery serving up delicious craft beer to the Blue Ridge community. Their New Year’s Eve celebration is an adult-only event complete with live music, a specialty dinner, and craft beer, of course.

Looking for a family friendly event? Hosted by the Fannin County Public Library, Noon Year Eve’s Party is a NYE daytime event perfect for people of all ages.

Black Bear Plunge

If you’re looking to start the year with a day trip, head to Chatsworth, Georgia, for their annual New Year’s Day Black Bear Plunge event.
Hosted by Friends of Fort Mountain State Park, people come from all over to start their year off with cold plunging in the lake. Registration is required for this event, so grab your ticket if you plan to participate in the Black Bear Plunge.

Blue Ridge, Georgia, is surrounded by countless hiking trails, from the Appalachian Trail to the Aska Trails System and more. There’s no better way to start the New Year than a hike with beautiful scenery.
Some of our favorite family-friendly hikes near Blue Ridge include:
- Long Branch Loop Trail: Easy 2.3-mile roundtrip hike in the Chattahoochee National Forest
- Lake Blue Ridge Loop: Easy .8-mile roundtrip along Lake Blue Ridge
If you’re looking for a longer day hike, we suggest heading to the Benton MacKaye Trail, which offers many trailheads along the Appalachian Trail in North Georgia. Be sure to check weather conditions beforehand, as there is always a chance for snow and ice in January.
Go Wine Tasting at Bear Claw Vineyards

We can’t think of a better way to warm up than a delicious glass of wine on a winter day! Fortunately, Blue Ridge is surrounded by tons of local wineries offering wine tastings throughout the winter.
One of our favorite local spots is Bear Claw Vineyards. Set in the Blue Ridge mountains, Bear Claw Vineyards offers incredible scenery, a year-round tasting room, and free live entertainment every weekend.
They are both dog and kid-friendly, so bring your whole family and enjoy some good wine.
Stroll Downtown Blue Ridge

While there are plenty of fun activities to explore around Blue Ridge, there’s nothing better than strolling the charming Downtown Blue Ridge’s main square during the holiday season.
Downtown Blue Ridge is still covered in Christmas decorations during New Year’s Eve, giving it a magical feel as you roam from one shop to the next.
