Getting Around

Located north of Ellijay and Blue Ridge, Mineral Bluff is a small, 400-resident town conveniently located just 1.5 hours from Chattanooga, Tennessee, and 2 hours from Atlanta.

While you could spend your getaway cozying up in our vacation rentals and be perfectly content, we recommend renting a vehicle for easy access to the many activities surrounding Mineral Bluff.
 

Best Time to Visit

Fall is the most popular time to visit North Georgia due to the mild weather and fall activities for the whole family to enjoy. Visitors can go apple picking, visit pumpkin patches, and go foliage sightseeing on one of the many nearby hiking trails.

Spring and Summer offer plenty of water activities, such as kayaking, tubing, and white water rafting on local rivers, including the Ocoee and the Toccoa Rivers. It’s also a great time for horseback riding.

Winter in Mineral Bluff is the best time to cozy up and enjoy your cabin rental amenities, like the outdoor fire pit and hot tub. If you’re hoping for snow, it’s your best chance of that, too!
 

Activities to Do in Mineral Bluff

Old Toccoa Farm Golf Course

Old Toccoa Farm is an award-winning public golf course in the heart of Mineral Bluff. The 125-acre green space features incredible views of the Chattahoochee and Cherokee National Forests, with the Toccoa River running straight through the course.

Old Toccoa Farm features an 18-hole golf course with over 280 feet of elevation, a full-length driving range, and a beginner-friendly 9-hole course for the whole family to play a round. There’s also an on-site restaurant, The Tavern, serving brunch, lunch, and dinner.

Ron Henry Horseshoe Bend Park

Perfectly situated along the Toccoa River, Ron Henry Horseshoe Bend Park is our go-to spot for family-friendly fun. This well-maintained park offers a peaceful setting full of outdoor activities. Enjoy water activities like fly fishing, kayaking, and tubing down the river during the warm months. Bundle up and enjoy a picnic near the creek if it's cold outside. There’s public restrooms, a playground, and even a dog park for your furry friends. This park is a hidden gem right in the heart of Mineral Bluff!
 

The Historic Mineral Bluff Depot

Built in 1887, Mineral Bluff Depot is a historic train depot that serviced the area for over 75 years. It is known as the oldest public building in Fannin County and is now listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Today, Mineral Bluff Depot is home to the Tri-State Model Railroaders Club, a civic organization that offers a variety of events for train enthusiasts. Open on select Saturdays throughout the year; visitors are invited to experience their impressive model railroad layout inside Mineral Bluff Depot. They also offer railroad motor car rides that are perfect for a kid-friendly activity.
 

Appalachian Trail Rides

Looking to go horseback riding through the North Georgia mountains? Appalachian Trail Rides is your go-to. This 250-acre farm in Mineral Bluff offers trail riding adventures for the whole family to enjoy.

The trails offer riders a front-row seat to the beautiful scenery surrounding them. From creeks to lakes to mountain views, you’ll catch a glimpse of it all as you enjoy your horseback adventure.
 

Zoo Groovy Yard Art

Zoo Groovy Yard Art is one of the most unique attractions in Mineral Bluff and one of our favorite North Georgia art galleries. This 7-acre metal yard art zoo is home to thousands of art installations resembling all of your favorite animals.

With free admission, it's the perfect spot to take the art and animal enthusiasts in your group. As you wander through the installations, you’ll find interesting facts about each one. And if you fall in love with a piece - you can take it home with you!
 

Mercier Orchards

Located right outside Mineral Bluff in neighboring Blue Ridge, Mercier Orchards is a family-owned apple orchard offering a variety of activities.

Perhaps the most popular is the U-Pick option, where visitors can pick whatever fruit is in season at the time. They also have an on-site market with fresh fruits, vegetables, homemade jams, and pressed cider from their apples. And, of course, there’s a bakery where you can taste delicious treats, like apple pie, made straight from their produce. Open daily, this is the perfect activity to enjoy tasty treats and beautiful scenery.
 

Blue Ridge Mountain Kayaking

Blue Ridge Mountain Kayaking is a locally-owned kayak company serving the Mineral Bluff and surrounding areas. They are located at the base of Lake Blue Ridge Dam, where you’ll enter the Toccoa River and enjoy a 6-mile kayak trip downstream.

There are no rapids, making it a great beginner-friendly trip. The ride takes approximately 2 hours if the dam is released and 3 hours if not. You can choose to rent kayaks or bring your own and use their shuttle service!
