3,200 acre lake is 11 miles long with 62 miles of shoreline. One of the nice features of this lake for boaters is that you cannot build houses down near the water, so you hardly see any houses while you are on the lake. There is a Public beach at Harris branch off Hwy. 382 off S. Main street out of Ellijay - follow signs for Harris Branch Recreation Area- with camping, picnic areas, fishing, boating and waterskiing. Trophy spotted bass. Best fishing times Feb. - Nov. for bass, stripers, and hybrid striped bass and Feb. - Mar. for walleye. Blueback herring are not allowed as bait. |

3,290 acre lake has 100 miles of shoreline and a full service marina. This lake has many large beautiful houses lining the shoreline. There are Boating, Fishing, Public Beach, and picnic areas at Morganton Point. This has been called the best destination in Georgia for smallmouth bass. Other favorites found here are largemouth bass, spotted bass, white bass (April - Oct.), bream (May - June) and walleye (Feb. - Mar.) To help the native smallmouth bass, anglers are encouraged to keep their daily bag limit of the introduced spotted bass. Access just east of Blue Ridge off Hwy. 76. On the Chatsworth side of the lake, Carters Lake Marina has pontoon and houseboat rentals. This is the only commercial facility on the lake.
