Snow in North Georgia

Our North Georgia region receives around 4 inches of snow per season. This means that it typically snows 1 to 2 times each winter.

According to the National Weather Service, there is very little chance of rainfall turning to snow during the month of December. While precipitation decreases in January, the colder temperatures offer a slightly higher chance of snowfall. By February, the weather will warm up, and chances of snow will decrease.

Therefore, January is the most likely time you will experience snow when visiting the North Georgia mountains. The chance is still slim, but it is a possibility! If it snows during your visit, you can expect light snow at lower elevations with heavier snowfall as you reach higher elevations in the mountains. Picture walking the Downtown Blue Ridge square with light flurries around you - now that’s a dreamy winter getaway.

Other Weather Patterns in North Georgia
