One of our favorite things about the Blue Ridge Mountains is that they are beautiful no matter what time of the year you visit. Due to the mild year-round temperatures in North Georgia, you can enjoy the great outdoors in all four seasons.
 

Fall

Fall is perhaps the most popular time to visit due to the beautiful fall colors and mild temperatures. It’s ideal for guests who want picturesque foliage and family-friendly fall activities, like apple picking and pumpkin patches.
 

Winter

There’s nothing like cozying up in our vacation rentals during the winter months and making the most of its amenities. It’s the perfect time to visit if you want to enjoy a slower pace, fewer crowds, and mild winter temperatures. You might even catch a flurry or two!
 

Spring

Spring is ideal for getting outside and exploring nearby waterfalls, hiking trails, and more. There’s something special about watching the mountains come back to life as Spring arrives.

Summer is perfect for guests looking to enjoy water activities on nearby lakes, like kayaking or canoeing. It’s also ideal for visiting local wineries, breweries, and more. It’s a popular time to visit, so expect more crowds for all of the summer fun!

Getting to Cherry Log

Cherry Log is conveniently located near major cities and nearby states. Located just 1.5 hours north of Atlanta, Georgia, it's easy to fly into their international airport and drive straight to the mountains. Cherry Log is also near Chattanooga, Tennessee (1.5 hours), Greenville, South Carolina (3 hours), and Birmingham, Alabama (3.5 hours).

The drive into Cherry Log is scenic, no matter which direction you’re coming from. Located along the Georgia Mountain Parkway, the road is fully paved and accessible until you turn off into the mountains.

We recommend utilizing a 4-wheel or all-wheel vehicle when driving up the steep mountains and winding hills. You’ll also want a vehicle to access the many outdoor adventures nearby.

Experience Fall Branch Falls

If you’re looking for a relatively easy hike that ends in a towering waterfall, there’s no better trail than Fall Branch Falls. This half-mile roundtrip hike is part of the larger Benton Mackaye Trail and is perfect for beginners and people of all ages.

You’ll make your way uphill through the Chattahoochee National Forest along Fall Branch Creek, passing smaller waterfalls until you reach the grand finale that is Fall Branch Falls. The tumbling waterfall is the perfect spot to enjoy a picnic or rest before returning.
 

Visit Expedition Bigfoot

Want a unique attraction that you can only find in Cherry Log? Expedition Bigfoot: The Sasquatch Museum is your place.

Deemed North Georgia’s “biggest” attraction, Expedition Bigfoot is a 45,000-square-foot museum full of exhibits, galleries, sketches, and artifacts on all things Bigfoot. It even boasts a “Sasquatch” Theater where you can learn about the history of Bigfoot. Whether you are a believer or simply curious - Expedition Bigfoot is unlike any other attraction.

The museum offers self-guided tours that typically take from 45 minutes to an hour. Admission is $9 for adults and $6 for children. Be sure to check out the gift shop where you can take home your very own Bigfoot souvenirs!
 

Ride at Cowgirl Up Stables

Cowgirl Up Stables is another outdoor activity that you can only find in Cherry Log. This horseback riding company offers guests the chance to explore the North Georgia mountains by horse, regardless of their experience level.

Cowgirl Up Stables offers beginner-friendly rides that are perfect for a larger group or whole family to enjoy. They also offer private, intermediate-level tours if you are more experienced.

All trail rides are guided and vary in duration, terrain, and price. No matter what ride you choose, you’ll love exploring the great outdoors through this unique activity.

The Pink Pig is the place to eat if you’re visiting the North Georgia mountains, and it just so happens to be in Cherry Log! This beloved BBQ joint has served the Cherry Log community since 1950 when it originally opened as a country store.

It might look unassuming from the outside, but your mouth will water as soon as you walk in and smell the delicious food cooking up. They offer everything from fried chicken to crispy onion rings to BBQ plates served with their infamous homemade sauces. And don’t forget to order iced tea - it makes the meal!
